The Hate U Give

Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter navigates two vastly different worlds: her predominantly poor, Black neighborhood and the wealthy, mostly white prep school she attends. Her carefully maintained balance is destroyed when she witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend, Khalil, by a police officer. Starr must then face pressure from both communities as she searches for her voice and decides whether or not to testify and speak out about what really happened that night.
