Project Hail Mary

Project Hail Mary is a 2021 science fiction novel by Andy Weir, author of "The Martian." The story centers on Ryland Grace, a school teacher and former biologist who wakes up on a spacecraft with amnesia, realizing he is the sole survivor of a desperate, last-chance mission. This mission is to stop an alien organism, Astrophage, which is causing the Sun to dim and threatening to cause an apocalyptic scenario for Earth. Grace eventually teams up with an alien named Rocky from a planet facing the same problem. Together, they work to find a solution to save both their worlds. The book won the Goodreads Choice Award for Readers' Favorite Science Fiction (2021) and has a film adaptation starring Ryan Gosling scheduled for release in 2026.
