Everything, Everything

The novel "Everything, Everything" centers on 18-year-old Madeline "Maddy" Whittier, who has Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID), making her "allergic to the world." She lives a life of isolation inside her sealed Los Angeles home, cared for by her mother, a doctor, and her nurse, Carla. Maddy has not left the house in fifteen years. Her quiet life changes when a new family moves in next door. She begins communicating with Olly, the boy next door, first through pantomime at their windows and then online. Their connection deepens, leading Maddy to yearn for the world outside her bubble. Despite the risks, Maddy decides to defy her condition and her mother's strict rules to pursue a chance at a normal life and love with Olly, which leads to her discovering a surprising truth about her illness.
