A Psalm for the Wild-Built is a cozy and thoughtful novella by Becky Chambers, the first book in the Monk & Robot series. It follows Sibling Dex, a nonbinary tea monk who travels around Panga, a post-apocalyptic world where humans and robots live in harmony. One day, Dex meets Mosscap, a wild-built robot who has come to fulfill an ancient promise: to ask humans what they need. The two embark on a journey of friendship and discovery, as they explore the meaning of life, happiness, and nature.

I enjoyed this book very much, because it was a refreshing and optimistic story that made me feel calm and hopeful. The characters were charming and relatable, and their conversations were insightful and humorous. The world-building was fascinating and original, with a lot of details about the history and culture of Panga and its inhabitants. The writing style was simple and elegant, with a gentle pace and a warm tone.

I think this book is a great introduction to the Monk & Robot series, because it sets up an intriguing premise and a lovely relationship between Dex and Mosscap. I am curious to see how their story will continue in the next books, and what other adventures they will have. I recommend this book to anyone who likes sci-fi, fantasy, or slice-of-life stories with a positive message.
